There was literally a beehive of activity at the Midweek Farmer's Market in downtown Ashland on Wednesday afternoon. Rex and Evelyn Bogner presented a talk on "the life of the honey bee." They also brought along an observation hive that attracted both youngsters and adults. The Bogners also offered pure honey for sale.

Rex Bogner said there's quite a lot of interest in bees these days.

Bogner is a mentor for new beekeepers for the Richland County Beekeeper's Association. His honey was just one of the many items available at the Midweek Farmer's Market, now in its 11th year.

Other items available include fresh produce, homemade baked goods and jams and jellies. The market is held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday, through October 13.

You can find the market in parking lot "B" between Claremont Avenue and Luther Street in downtown Ashland. All proceeds from the market are earmarked for community beautification projects and an endowment fund with the Ashland County Community Foundation.
