MANSFIELD: Jeanne A. Beeman, age 88, passed away Tuesday morning July 27, 2010 in Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield.

          Jeanne was born February 10, 1922 in Shelby to Durell V. and Edna (Koontz) Trago and graduated from Shelby High School in 1939.  It was through a mutual friend that she met her future husband John Beeman.  The two were married in Shelby on November 20, 1940.

          While in high school Jeanne learned the art of tap dancing and even competed in a few contests.   Her love of dance never faded and at the age of 70 Jeanne line danced at local nursing homes. 

          As a young lady, she worked at Shelby Sales Book and in 1968 began working at Marco Photo. 

          A talented seamstress, Jeanne made dresses and winter coats for her family.  She was a member of Beta Kappa Tau Sorority.  Earlier in life Jeanne attended First English Lutheran Church and currently was a member of Little Washington Congregational Church. 

          Jeanne enjoyed tending to her flower garden.  Quite the sports enthusiast, she liked boating, golfing, and fishing.  In the summer months she followed Nascar’s Jeff Gordon and the Cleveland Indians, and in the fall Jeanne cheered for her Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. 

          For numerous years she was a hostess for the Miss Ohio Pageant.   

          For 20 years she lived in Osteen Florida where she was a garden club member.  While residing in Florida, Jeanne began following the Orlando Magic and was one of their biggest fans.

          Fun loving, Jeanne will be remembered for her happy spirit and contagious smile.

          She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Ray) Secrist of Mansfield, daughter Melanie Bowers and her fiancé Jerry Rodgers both of Mansfield, daughter Lori Beeman of Bowling Green, son Ken (Debbie) Beeman of Spring, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses Vicki (Rob) Heckathorn, Mike (Sonya) Secrist, Dan (Jody) Secrist, Lynda (Scott) Meinke, Robyn Bowers, and Jessi and Jenni Beeman; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandson; half brother Dr. Vincent (Charlene) Trago of Lexington; step-sister Evelyn (Blair) Morris of Crestline; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

          Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband John Beeman on November 16, 1983, sisters and brothers-in-law Joanne and Tony DeVito and Marylyn and Robert Beeman, step mother Rose Trago.

          The Beeman family will receive friends from 12 noon -2pm Saturday July 31, 2010 in the Finefrock Chapel of The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her memorial service will begin at 2pm.  The Rev. David Root will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

          Memorial contributions to Little Washington Congregational Church Scholarship Fund, the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made at the funeral home.
